Spring 2018. My current focus is on the experiences of Vietnamese refugees in the U.S. after the Fall of Saigon. Because of warfare, the complicated relationship between South Vietnam and the U.S., and more complications after the demise of South Vietnam, this movement to the U.S. was singular in many respects. In particular, I look into into the exilic experiences of the Catholic refugees, whose history was tied intimately to Catholicism in South Vietnam and beyond. Other areas of my research include music and literature produced by the refugees.
